Founded in 1971, the International Buckskin Horse Association is the world's largest registry for horses of this color. "The Buckskin" by Orren Mixer was commissioned in 1996 and unveiled at the 1998 IBHA World Championship Show. The original painting is currently displayed at the AQHA Heritage Center and Museum in Amarillo, TX.
